Benjamin graduated with LL.B (Second Class Upper Hons) from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom in 2009. He completed the Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) in 2010 and was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in September 2011.
Benjamin chambered in Messrs Albar & Partners in Kuala Lumpur and upon completion of his pupilage, he has joined other reputable law firms in Kuala Lumpur as a legal associate including Messrs Shook Lin & Bok in 2011.
Benjamin eventually moved down to Johor Bahru and in September 2014, he joined Messrs Lee & Tengku Azrina. Subsequently, he founded Messrs Benjamin Tan & Co on 7 June 2016.
Benjamin has vast experience in corporate and commercial, property, banking and finance, family, probate, litigation, debt recovery and intellectual property related matters.
He is involved in various corporate and commercial exercises relating to initial public offering, mergers and acquisitions, legal due diligence exercise, issuance of company bonus and warrant, redeemable preference shares and various commercial agreements including, amongst others, joint venture agreement, subscription agreement and licensing agreement.
Benjamin also has experience in banking and financing matters and property development including joint venture relating to real estate, sales and purchases of real estate, sub-sales transactions, developers’ transactions, tenancies and leases and other land-related agreements.
He has advised the banks and borrowers on loan and security documentations including retail loans and commercial loans, conventional and Islamic banking documentations.
His experience also extends to civil litigation, family and probate matters. He advises and represents clients on general civil disputes, joint petition for divorce and assists clients on estate planning, preparing of wills and other probate related matters.
Yim Siew graduated with LL.B (First Class Honours) from Aberystwyth University, Wales, United Kingdom in 2009. She completed the Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) in 2010 and was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in September 2011.
Yim Siew started her career with Messrs Zaid Ibrahim & Co in 2011 and became a partner of Messrs Zaid Ibrahim & Co in 2021. Eventually, she joined Messrs Benjamin Tan & Co as a partner in June 2022. She is also a commissioner for oaths.
Yim Siew advises on a diverse range of corporate and commercial transactions and advisory work involving local and cross border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, shareholders’ arrangements, corporate restructuring, foreign direct investment and regulatory compliance, including personal data protection and anti-bribery and corruption. Her experience includes due diligence exercise, drafting and advising on various corporate and commercial agreements.
In addition, Yim Siew has advised on corporate transactions involving capital markets and securities law. She has experience in corporate exercises involving quotation and listing of securities on Malaysian stock exchange and other stock exchange, initial public offerings, equity capital raising exercises, derivatives, rights issue, exchange-traded funds and other collective investment schemes.
She also has experience in advising on construction related matters, tenancies, settlement agreements and preparation of wills.
